This is the perfect project for mixed-media and whimsy-lovers!\u003c\/p\u003e \u003ch2\u003eTrue Calling Project Tutorial by Juliette Crane:\u003c\/h2\u003e \u003cp\u003eFor this painting, I created the background using layers of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/tissue-and-transparencies\"\u003eBleeding Art tissue paper\u003c\/a\u003e, acrylic paints, \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paper-collections?limit=100\"\u003evintage wallpaper\u003c\/a\u003e, book pages, \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/faber-castell-collection?limit=100\"\u003epaint markers\u003c\/a\u003e and water soluble oil pastels.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Then I added my bear’s body, face and wings using \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paints?limit=100\"\u003eacrylic paints\u003c\/a\u003e and pen. Once my character was in place, I softened the entire background around the bear using oil paint sticks, allowing the color of the body to stand out. Finally, I adhered a paper moon and painted on its face. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Once my painting dried, I applied a spray varnish to protect the painting. Then I applied a coat of vintage-hued mod podge. This makes the color of the Bleeding Art tissue paper come to the surface (even if I’ve added acrylic paint on top of it). I am careful not to use the bleeding art tissue paper right where I plan to add my character’s face. But I love the look in a background or in a character’s body and wings.
