Most importantly, I just try to have fun and not overthink the process.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e When I first saw Stencil Girl’s new collection of stencils by Seth Apter, there was one that really spoke to me — Past, Present, Future. I knew instantly that I wanted to use it to create an art journal page, while also experimenting with texture paste and acrylic paint.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003ch2\u003ePast, Present, Future Art Journal Page Instructions:\u003c\/h2\u003e \u003cp\u003eFirst, coat the surface of your \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/cards-and-journals\"\u003ejournal page\u003c\/a\u003e with \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/adhesives-primers-and-mediums\"\u003eblack gesso\u003c\/a\u003e, and let dry. Use a \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/the-shoppe-ranger?page=2\"\u003eheat gun\u003c\/a\u003e to speed up the drying process.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Add a light layer of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paints\"\u003eDina Wakley Media Heavy Body Acrylic Paint\u003c\/a\u003e in Turquoise, Sky, and Lime. Use a \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/punches-and-paper-crafting-tools?limit=25\"\u003ebrayer\u003c\/a\u003e to create a little texture and to help spread the paint onto the page. Use your \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/the-shoppe-ranger?page=2\"\u003eheat gun\u003c\/a\u003e to speed up the drying process.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Continue adding layers of paint using your fingers until you are satisfied with your composition, and remember, it’s an art journal page, so have fun and don’t overthink the process. While the page is still wet, add a bit of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paints\"\u003ewhite paint\u003c\/a\u003e to help mute some of the colors and to add a bit of contrast.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Cut out strips of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paper-collections\"\u003epatterned paper\u003c\/a\u003e and adhere to the page with \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/adhesives-primers-and-mediums\"\u003egel medium\u003c\/a\u003e. Once set, coat the entire page with gel medium, and let dry.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Randomly \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/collections-claudine-hellmuth?page=2\"\u003estamp circles\u003c\/a\u003e using \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/inkpads-and-cleaners\"\u003epermanent black ink\u003c\/a\u003e. Use paint and small lids, credit cards, wooden skewers, or any other found objects to add extra color and texture.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Mix \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/the-shoppe-ranger\"\u003etexture paste\u003c\/a\u003e and \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/dina-wakley-collection\"\u003eNight acrylic paint\u003c\/a\u003e using a \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/color-tools\"\u003epalette knife\u003c\/a\u003e, then stencil on the words “past, present, future,” and the word “within” from \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/stencils\"\u003eStencil Girl’s Past Present Future Stencil by Seth Apter\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Once your stenciled words are dry, add splatters of black paint.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Finally, journal away!
