Whether hanging it up in your window, from your rear view mirror, or on your Christmas tree, this project reminds us where our home truly is.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003ch2\u003eHeart Ornament Project by Cynthia Shaffer Project Directions\u003c\/h2\u003e \u003cp\u003eUsing a medium grit sand paper, lightly sand the \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/Sandra-Evertson-Collection\"\u003eheart\u003c\/a\u003e to rough up the smooth surface and to round out the edges.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eMark a heart on the surface about 5\/8 inches in from the outer edge. With a darning needle or other pointed object, etch into the drawn heart.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eUsing a file, etch sections into the outer portion of the heart about 3\/8 inches apart.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eApply several coats of red \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paints?limit=25\u0026amp;page=2\"\u003eacrylic paint\u003c\/a\u003e to the entire surface of the heart. Allow the paint to dry in-between coats.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eApply turquoise \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paints?limit=25\u0026amp;page=2\"\u003epaint\u003c\/a\u003e to every other outer section as seen.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eOnce dry, lightly sand the heart, removing most of the red paint from the middle section.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eSpray or dab the heart with \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/dyes\"\u003eTsukineko Walnut Ink\u003c\/a\u003e Antiquing Solution. Quickly rub off the excess solution. Set aside to dry.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eFrom a scrap of black cardstock cut out a small square and a small triangle.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eFrom an old book page, cut out a slightly smaller square and a slightly smaller triangle.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003ca href=\"\/collections\/adhesives-primers-and-mediums\"\u003eGlue\u003c\/a\u003e the book page pieces on top of the black pieces. Glue the triangle on top of the square to resemble a house.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eCut a small heart from a scrap of red felt. Knot a short length of brown twine and glue it to the center of the heart.
