I love quick and easy projects that I can make for myself or to give to a friend. While going through my craft supplies the other day, I noticed I had just a bit of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/soap-making-supplies\"\u003ewhite soap base\u003c\/a\u003e left and wanted to put it to use. It wasn’t enough to fill my usual molds, so I had to find something smaller to pour the base into. I heard we recently got a shipment of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/boxes-and-storage-tins\"\u003evintage tart tins\u003c\/a\u003e for The Shoppe and knew that they’d be perfect! I thought they might be a little too plain, so I found some \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/herbs-teas-and-scoops\"\u003echamomile\u003c\/a\u003e to add a touch of color, scent, and a bit of exfoliant.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eFirst spritz your tins (or whatever mold you’ve chosen) with rubbing alcohol or vodka. This will help ensure your soap will slide out of the mold once it’s set. Cut the soap base into 1-inch cubes and place in a microwave safe measuring cup. (I really recommend investing in a \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/soap-making-supplies\"\u003esoap cutter\u003c\/a\u003e. It is much safer than a knife as it glides right through the base). Microwave soap base in 30-second increments until it is thoroughly melted. Pour soap into the tin and then sprinkle chamomile on top. I tried to place the chamomile in the tin first for one of the soaps, but it floated up to the top once I poured the soap base in. Place in the refrigerator to set overnight.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eOnce the soaps have set, they should pop out of the tins pretty easily. You can then remove the soaps and wrap them as desired, or leave them in the tins to gift that way. Other than the setting time, this project took me less than 5 minutes to make, and that includes clean-up time.
