Even before I could write, I would go through stacks of copy paper making “cards” for anyone and everyone I knew. Most featured indecipherable scribbles, but the sentiment was there. As I got older, I kept making cards, mainly for my parents and grandparents, but started using magazine images and stickers in place of doodles. Once I met my future mother-in-law, an avid rubber stamper, I began adding stamps to my cards too. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e So, when I recently felt like making something but came up short on ideas, I decided to keep things simple and make some cards. I’ve been trying to do more “analog” things this year, including surprising friends and loved ones with cards or letters in the mail. Who doesn’t love getting mail that isn’t a bill or advertisement? \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e As I was walking through our office, my eyes landed on photo transparencies that I thought would work perfectly as the main images for my greetings. To make the images “pop,” I used gel medium to adhere them to white cardstock and trimmed the excess paper. I sorted through my paper scraps and found some that complemented the transparencies well, including some from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Worn Wallpaper Scraps collection. I arranged the paper scraps and transparency on my cards, and once I was happy with the arrangement, I took a quick photo with my phone so I could refer back to the layout. I then glued everything down and finished each card with dried greenery and a few strips of wash tape.
