There are so many ways you can personalize these handmade coasters, depending on the type of collage paper or patterned paper you use. Everything goes quickly if you work in batches, making this an excellent project to be turned into gifts. Just be sure to seal everything so that moisture doesn’t damage the wood. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003ch4\u003e\u003cspan\u003eProject Instructions:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTo make your own set of homemade coasters, wipe down the wood slices with a lightly dampened paper towel. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eApply a layer of decoupage medium to the inner core of the wood, which will appear to be a nearly perfect circle. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePro tip:\u003c\/strong\u003e If you want to make the colors of the paper you’re using pop, first apply a coat of white acrylic paint. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eLay a piece of tissue paper on top of the decoupage medium, and burnish with your hand. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOnce the decoupage medium has dried, you should be able to tear away the excess tissue paper. If there are any uneven edges, use a craft knife to cut them away. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eApply a layer of decoupage medium over the entire wood slice, including the bark edges.
