Recently I was thinking about how it would be fun to put confetti into our Shoppe’s glassine envelopes as an interactive party favor. Out of curiosity, I did some research online and discovered that there are a number of great ideas on wedding blogs and websites of a similar nature. For this project, I thought I would put my own spin on this envelope idea by doing a little stamping and sewing on the confetti packs!

I created two different styles of envelopes using decorative paper tapes in soft and pretty spring colors. You can customize these to match the colors of your wedding or theme with the large variety of paper tapes that we have available. If you are in need of a more specific color or design, you may alternatively use patterned paper. I recommend using the 4x4" glassine envelopes for holding the confetti. The idea is that the wedding guests can tear off the top of the pack at the wedding to commence the festivities with good old-fashioned confetti throwing!

For the first set of confetti packs, I stamped various designs from the Crescendoh Doohdles Clearly Impressed stamp line. The designs from this stamp set are great for weddings because they include the decorative cake images, hearts, and words that are perfect sentiments for these occasions. Stamp the designs on the glassine sleeves with StazOn ink. It is really important to use this type of ink because glassine envelopes have a slick surface, making it difficult for most images to adhere. I used the patterned Aqua Paper Tape and attached it the top of the envelope (front and back). Next, I stitched a simple straight stitch through the tape with brown thread for a decorative touch. For the second set of confetti packs, I decided to use the flourish image from the Patterned Flourishes Clearly Impressed stamp line. This stamp image is elegant with just the right touch of sophistication, which makes it perfectly suited for a wedding. The paper tape I employed comes from the Venice Naked Paper Tape set. I used papers from the Radiant collection. Cut the paper and a piece of canvas down to the same size. Fill a mini mister with water and spray the canvas piece generously. Start rubbing with your finger to peel off the top layer of paper. You will need to keep spraying the water as you go to help the paper come off. You will slowly start to see you patterned paper revealed. Once you have rubbed off as much of the paper as possible, you will notice that some small white pieces of paper pulp will still be on the canvas so to get those off you can rub some Multi Medium Matte into the canvas to get the white pieces off. Allow the canvas with the transferred image to dry.

To create my black, white and red bird patch use scissors to trim around the bird images into a rectangle. Cut a small piece of lace scrap to fit along the bottom of the bird and sew to attach. Cut a piece of organic cotton batting slightly larger than the canvas with the bird image. Then place the canvas rectangle with the bird image on top of the batting and arrange color coordinated buttons across the top. When you're happy with the button placements, temporarily remove them and sew the canvas with the bird image onto the batting. Then hand stitch the buttons to the batting. Use an embroidery needle with thread to add a French knot detail to the bird's eye. Use pinking shears to trim around the top and bottom edges of the batting. Apply craft glue to the back of this batting patch and adhere it to the tote.

Use Staz-On ink to stamp letters (ex. s, o, a, r) onto tea-dyed office supply tags. Attach the tags to the tote using mini-safety pins.

For the "search" patch, cut a piece of canvas into an elongated rectangle shape. Then cut a piece of organic cotton batting and a piece of vintage striped fabric to fit under the canvas. Use letter stamps and Staz-On ink to stamp a word (ex. s, e, a, r, c, h), then use pinking shears to trim around the edges. Sew this canvas along the edges and on top of the batting (be sure to leave space at the top of the batting for a row of buttons.) Hand stitch the buttons on to the batting. To finish this patch, sew the batting to the striped fabric along the edges. Apply craft glue to the back of this batting patch and adhere it to the tote.

For the mini-batting patch (for the tote handle), trim around the transferred bird image. Then cut organic cotton batting, canvas and tea-dyed used dryer sheet into rectangle shapes. Place the bird image on top of the canvas and dryer sheet and sew it around the edges to attach. Next, cut a piece of fabric tape measure to fit across the canvas and dryer sheet, and embroider stitch an "x." Place the tape measure on top of the canvas and tea-dyed used dryer sheet (under the bird image, and leave some space for a lace scrap nest) and sew it around the edges to attach. Attach the canvas fabric to the top of the batting base by sewing along the outside edges. For the nest, cut tiny pieces of antique lace and adhere them to the bottom of the bird using craft glue. Lastly, use a safety pin to attach this patch along with color-coordinated ribbons to the tote handle. I used to use the type of crepe paper that you can purchase for party decorations but that style typically comes in the thin strips, so I was so excited to work with these beautiful, large sheets of quality crepe paper. The box used in this project is a recycled box leftover from Christmas - the kind that you receive cookies or candy in. I decided to turn it into and elegant gift box. The original box was bright red and green so I first painted the entire box with a coat of white acrylic paint. While the paint was drying I created the large rosette that is on the top. To make the rosette you need the Melissa Frances white crepe paper some needle and thread and scissors. Do a simple running stitch along the edge of a wide piece of crepe paper. Once you are finished stitching, pull the two end pieces of thread together and create the circular rosette.

Tie the two ends together tightly. For the bottom section of the box take the green crepe paper and glue onto the box with a liquid adhesive. Cut any excess crepe paper of the bottom edge. Be sure to leave a small section at the top so that the crepe paper doesn’t interfere when you are putting the lid on. Trace a circle the same size of the lid onto the Attic Treasures paper and cut out. Glue the piece onto the lid, and then trim some long strips of the same paper onto the rim of the lid. Ink all the edges of the lid with a light brown ink. Glue the rosette onto the top with liquid adhesive. Then cut out the oval woman image from the "Faces From the Past" collage sheet. Glue that image onto a piece of light green cardstock from the Wisteria collection and ink the edges lightly with the light brown ink. Glue a piece of brown velvet ribbon onto the top of the lid (over the rosette) with the liquid adhesive and then use the same ribbon to glue a strip around the bottom of the box.

Then glue the image of the women onto the center of the lid. This fun kit designed by Claudine Hellmuth includes a book and card decks with fun themes and colors to get you started and spark the creativity in you! I chose one color card and one theme and ended up with red + little one. Since I have a daughter it made it really easy to choose my subject! I see so many scrapbook layouts with baby themes that have lots of pastels and cute embellishments so I was really excited to have chosen the red color card because this pushed me to create something really different. I began with the 8½" x 11" black book cover, and Book Creator machine.

Each machine comes with one free book cover in the kit but you can also purchase them separately. I chose the Basic Grey Scarlet’s Letter collection because it has stunning patterns and the red color is consistent in the designs. Cut down all your background Basic Grey papers to 8"x10." Since I used just one picture per page, I chose 5"x7" photographs. Use white acrylic paint and on each page roughly paint a white square. This will be the frame for the pictures when you glue them on. Take some torn up pieces of vintage book paper and glue onto the frames in various areas, leaving a little to hang over the edge so you will see it when the photos are attached. Allow the paint and glue from the book papers to dry. While waiting, you can start decorating your pictures with the photo scratching tool.

I chose to scratch out the really dark areas of the pictures so that the focus on the pictures would really stand out. After scratching the areas I took a red crayon and did some random doodles and coloring over the top of the scratching. Now you can start gluing the photos onto the layouts! You can choose to create a vertical or horizontal album, both will work fine. After all the pictures are attached to the layouts, take the Daisy D’s rub-on tape runners and randomly decorate the edges of the pictures to create some cool borders. Mix them up and try use two styles on one page! Next take a red and black crayon and doodle as desired. I mainly doodled near the corners of the pictures but the possibilities are endless.

Cover:

After the pages were all finished I chose from favorite to use as the first page because this is the one you will see through the window. I added two strips of the book paper to the top left corner. Once everything is completely dry, paint over the cover with a good quality sealing adhesive.
