Once you have your sections mix the ICE Resin® per the provided instructions. Lay the paper onto a trash bag (make sure this is not a recycled shopping bag as it will stick), or onto the top of a silicone craft mat. Wearing gloves and using a foam brush apply a layer of resin to both sides of the paper. Set aside and allow to dry over night.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFilling a Bezel:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePlace your imagery within the Oval Hobnail Bezel, using a wee bit of paper appropriate adhesive to hold the artwork in place. While the glue is drying mix a batch of resin per the instructions. With the bezel on a flat surface pour the resin into the piece. Allow to dry for 24 hours.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003ePrepping the Journal:\u003cbr\u003eWhile the resin is drying create layers within the pages of the canvas journal by adding paint in coordinating shades. To ensure the paint is sufficiently dry before moving on to the next signature of pages I like to apply a little heat with a hair dryer set on low – this way your pages will not stick together.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCreating a Story:\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cbr\u003eOnce your resin paper has dried you are ready to assemble. Start by layering vintage sheet music and ledger paper onto the pages that is then covered with resin paper. In my journal it was all about remaining imperfect. Layers are not cut to a specific size but rather left a bit random. Once all of the paper layers are done proceed by adding a bit of machine stitching and\/or hand stitching. Ribbons and other textiles can be added in the same manner.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003eOnto the top of the resin paper I added a wee bit of white paint – once dry journaling was added as well. Finish embellishing by adding pieces of paper tape as well as trim and buttons.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTips:\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cbr\u003eIn lieu of sewing everything down create pockets by sewing either just the top and the bottom or three sides. To get the dripping effect you just have to be a little “generous” with the amount that you spray and turn the pieces of cardstock as you go. Make sure you use a paper towel to cover your working surface.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e After all the papers had dried I just folded them in half and stitched down the middle to create the book. Keep in mind - if you want to stitch on the cover, it’s usually best to do that before you bind the book! Don’t stitch through too many sheets unless you have a sewing machine that is capable of doing so, I’ve learned that the hard way in the past.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e To alter the cover, I embellished it with some pretty colors of crafter's tape and added the birdie themed ephemera piece from the Daily Junque collection. I also did a little stitching on the cover to compliment the stitching on the bind.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e For the final touch to the cover, I added some teeny alpha stickers to spell out “to journal.” On the inside pages you can add some extra artsy touches by stamping various designs here and there. The other step that may take some time is stamping the dates onto all the cardstock pieces. To make it quick, I suggest making some piles for the cards - do all the months and then do the days. This way you can stamp 31 January cards with \"JAN\" very quickly and so on. Then crank out all the numbers - so do all 12 months with the \"01\" stamp etc...\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eYou may want to alter the cards and embellish them just a little. But this is a big project so maybe gradually doing the cards throughout the year might be best! I add a few very simple elements to mine using some of my favorite stamps and some colorful inks. On some of my cards, I used a little white wash to fade the stamped images very slightly. To decorate the front of the book I first painted a rectangular shape on the center of the cover with white acrylic \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/paints\"\u003epaint\u003c\/a\u003e. When the paint had dried I stamped the Britannia image using brown ink onto the center of the painted white area. I then painted around the edge of the stamped image with white crackle paint.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e I glued three starfish \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/embellishments\"\u003eembellishments \u003c\/a\u003eto the bottom left corner of the stamped image using Judikins DG3 art gel as the adhesive. For the inside pages I decided to keep it very simple (sometimes less is more). I had some of my favorite summer, beach-themed photographs printed in a sepia tone to compliment the vintage style of the papers. I cut down each photograph to 4”x4” and matted them onto black cardstock that was cut down to 4 ½” x 4 ½”. I cut it straight on two sides and then tore the other two sides. Take a piece of vintage music paper and tear edges so it’s slightly smaller than the polka dot paper. Ink the edges of each piece of paper with black ink. Distress the edges of the book with black ink also. Cut out the Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum image from the Hallowe’en In Wonderland paper pad. Glue the patterned papers onto the cover then glue on the Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum image. Saving ephemera like this is something we should all do for ourselves and our children so that you can look back at ephemera or photos and enjoy that nostalgic feeling of the past. This project could simply be a scrapbook page on its own or turned into a decorative wall hanging as I have done by incorporating the hanger.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e I began by painting a piece of brown cardstock with blue paint. Once the paint had dried I stamped the script on the right side of the page using the Collage Cube stamp and Brown StazOn ink. I then took the newspaper clipping that my mother saved and attached it the cardstock using the tan colored Happytape. To create the focal point where my birth announcement is I used Black Scrappers Floss and created a circle and taped it around the birth section. Sew the pieces together. Add Artful Collage Flowers all along the bottom of the piece with white brads. On a piece of brown paper from the Venetian Collection stamp all the numbers from the Gypsy Year stamp set using black StazOn and acrylic blocks. Cut out each number and glue them to magnetic tape and then cut out. Finish the edges of each number by distressing the edge with brown StazOn Ink.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Use a heart die cut or punch to cut out the hearts from the Venetian Collection. Add them to the left side of the clear pocket. For the magnetic months, use different scraps of colored fabric. Stamp each month from the Gypsy Year stamp set with the black StazOn onto the fabric scraps. Add a strip of magnetic tape behind the month and then add a piece of paper behind it and sew them down together with brown thread. Cut out each one with decorative edged scissors. The ones I used were just slightly bigger than the cardstock pages which is perfect because I wanted the edges of the vintage book paper to be exposed and hang over the edges of the main pages. Ink the edges of all pages with black ink. Start assembling the pages in order. I alternated the cardstock colors by using black, brown the blue and repeated that order. Once you have done that, insert the Halloween postcards wherever you like and also the vintage book pages. I see so many scrapbook layouts with baby themes that have lots of pastels and cute embellishments so I was really excited to have chosen the red color card because this pushed me to create something really different. I began with the 8½\" x 11\" black book cover, and Book Creator machine.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Each machine comes with one free book cover in the kit but you can also purchase them separately. I chose the Basic Grey Scarlet’s Letter collection because it has stunning patterns and the red color is consistent in the designs. Cut down all your background Basic Grey papers to 8\"x10.\" Since I used just one picture per page, I chose 5\"x7\" photographs. Use white acrylic paint and on each page roughly paint a white square. This will be the frame for the pictures when you glue them on. Take some torn up pieces of vintage book paper and glue onto the frames in various areas, leaving a little to hang over the edge so you will see it when the photos are attached. Allow the paint and glue from the book papers to dry. While waiting, you can start decorating your pictures with the photo scratching tool.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e I chose to scratch out the really dark areas of the pictures so that the focus on the pictures would really stand out. After scratching the areas I took a red crayon and did some random doodles and coloring over the top of the scratching. Now you can start gluing the photos onto the layouts! You can choose to create a vertical or horizontal album, both will work fine. After all the pictures are attached to the layouts, take the Daisy D’s rub-on tape runners and randomly decorate the edges of the pictures to create some cool borders. Mix them up and try use two styles on one page! Next take a red and black crayon and doodle as desired. I began by painting around the window with the green paint then after the green had dried I painted roughly over the top of it with the crackle paint and then added some white paint, and finally I added just a little pink paint to the bottom right corner. I added two strips of the book paper to the top left corner. Once everything is completely dry, paint over the cover with a good quality sealing adhesive.
