This tints everything and allows the paint to seep into the cracks (which give it a cool look!).\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eUse patterned tape as funky accents or collage bits.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eCut out the woman from the 7gypsies card and attach red wings with double-sided tape. Then put her down where you'd like her!\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003ePut a strip of double-sided tape at her waist and string down the thickest of the fibers. Attach them solidly with the tape. Work in layers, adding the next-thickest, then the strings, always working down from the waist. I find double-sided tape works much better than glue at this point.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eRemove pesky collage element and layer tape and some clear acrylic stamps.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eI use a black pan-pastel to give the woman a bit of a drop shadow using the tools that come with the pastel.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eAttach a card to write on with decorated tape.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eWrite your intentions for the box or an inspirational quote on the card to help give it some good mojo.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eMake the wings pop by outlining them with a Sharpie Paint Pen (water based) or your favorite white pen.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eGive your lady a halo with watercolors or watercolor crayons.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eTint the edges of the box with watercolors in your favorite color.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eUse an awl or craft knife to carve some fun border around the bottom edge of your box.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eUse the 7gypsies tape around the lid-part of the box's edges. Start with a cut edge against the top of the box, and fold the tape under and into the box.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eAdd last-minute bits!\u003c\/li\u003e \u003cli\u003eThis was the most problematic. My box was too thick to use with the screw that came with my journal knob, so I actually found another and drilled a hole into my box to secure it properly. Which viewers can be advised to do (with the help of a handy hubby or friend). This technique is great because you can basically turn a piece of your favorite patterned paper into a piece of fabric and then create wearable art or use the canvas fabric in your mixed-media artwork. First choose a piece of patterned paper that you love. I used the \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/art-stamps-christine-adolph\"\u003eChristine Adolph\u003c\/a\u003e Winter Garden Collection. Cut the paper and a piece of canvas down to the same size. Peel the sticky of the canvas and lay the paper down (the side of the paper you want will go face down onto the sticky side). Burnish with a bone folder. I like to use the bone folder from the Making Memories Distressing Kit. Fill a mini mister with water and spray the canvas piece generously. Start rubbing with your finger to peel off the top layer of paper. You will need to keep spraying the water as you go to help the paper come off. You will slowly start to see you patterned paper revealed. Once you have rubbed off as much of the paper as possible, you will notice that some small white pieces of paper pulp will still be on the canvas so to get those off you can rub some Multi Medium Matte into the canvas to get the white pieces off. Set the canvas aside to dry and then use it creatively in all your projects! Watch the video to see how simple this paper transfer technique is!\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eTip:\u003c\/strong\u003e If you decide to use your finished canvas pieces on a tote or similar wearable art project, it would be a great idea to paint it with Collage Pauge as this will help protect because Collage Pauge is water resistant.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFinished Project Instructions for the Cuff Bracelet: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e I decided to use the finished canvas in a wearable art project. I recently altered a shirt which will be featured in future issue of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/altered-couture\"\u003eAltered Couture\u003c\/a\u003e. When altering this particular shirt I converted it from long sleeves into short sleeves so I had the leftover shirt sleeves and decided to use those pieces to make some cuff bracelets. These are so easy because the cuff is ready to go; all you need to do is alter it! Using fabric from some old jeans and the canvas I just cut out the circle shapes and sewed them onto the cuff, adding a button in the center of each one.
