You can pick up an old metal cooking tray or chopping block inexpensively at a thrift store, or carefully layer wax paper to contain any accidental spills.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003c\/ul\u003e \u003cul\u003e \u003cli\u003eYou can use the Melting Pot Project Pan to create the lip balm mixture, or alternatively, a saucepan. If you choose to use a saucepan, make sure it is completely clean and one that you plan on using for future lip balm or beauty projects only. To create (and fill) 4 tins of the lip balm, I mixed 1\/3 cup of vegetable oil with 1\/3 cup of the beeswax.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003c\/ul\u003e \u003cul\u003e \u003cli\u003eHeat it on a medium heat, stirring slowly with a wooden spoon. Add a flavor if desired - for a few of mine a added a few drops of Vanilla essence and a few others I used a peppermint \"syrup\" flavor.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003c\/ul\u003e \u003cul\u003e \u003cli\u003eIf you want clear lip balm leave it as is - but if you'd like a little color, add a very small amount of lipstick. You can purchase the inexpensive ones at the store and use a knife to slice off approx 1\/8\" of the lipstick and add it to the mixture. If you want a little more color just add more - but a little goes a long way.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003c\/ul\u003e \u003cul\u003e \u003cli\u003eOnce the lip balm mixture has completely melted to a liquid and the color is just right, you can pour the mixture into the tins. Since the tins have hinges, if you fill it too high the mixture might leak out so just fill below the hinges. It takes only a few minutes to harden and you can always add more to fill to the desired level. Set aside to harden.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003c\/ul\u003e \u003cul\u003e \u003cli\u003eI recommend embellishing the tins after the wax has set. If you accidentally spill wax on the outside it's much easier to clean off the excess wax if the tins are bare. I don't suggest sanding and painting the tins because sanding metal produces tiny specks of metal dust - which you don't want in your lip balm! Embellish the tins using some strips of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/fabric-tapes\"\u003efabric tape\u003c\/a\u003e and then tie with a simple strand of \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/ribbons-and-fibers\"\u003escrapper's floss\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003c\/li\u003e \u003c\/ul\u003e \u003cp\u003eTo complete the project, package your lip balm tins with a little shabby flair. Place the tin inside a glassine sleeve and then secure the top with the pink striped fabric tape. Adhere your ATC label onto the bottle using Cavallini “Paris” Decorative Paper Tape. Next, write the bottle’s contents onto another Red Tim Holtz Vial Label, and placed it onto the ATC label. For the expiration tag, try using our large pre-strung grubby tags. We elected to use a Pointing Hand stamp from Cavallini’s “Numbers \u0026amp; Symbols” Stamp Collection, and a red sharpie to write our “Use By” date. Before looping your tag onto your bottle, finish off the neck with a strip of 7Gypsies “Market” red paper tape.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Volia! For this project, I decided to repurpose one of these pieces into a decorative wall display that can hold pictures and other memorabilia.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e To begin, decoupage old French text onto a wooden board using Matte Medium as the adhesive and sealer. Once the adhesive dries, add a strip of fabric tape along the bottom of the board and another strip of the same tape along the top area. Glue on the Jacobean Clothespins using Diamond Glaze Adhesive. If you are in need of a more specific color or design, you may alternatively use patterned paper. I recommend using the 4x4\" glassine envelopes for holding the confetti. The idea is that the wedding guests can tear off the top of the pack at the wedding to commence the festivities with good old-fashioned confetti throwing!\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e For the first set of confetti packs, I stamped various designs from the Crescendoh Doohdles Clearly Impressed stamp line. The designs from this stamp set are great for weddings because they include the decorative cake images, hearts, and words that are perfect sentiments for these occasions. Stamp the designs on the glassine sleeves with StazOn ink. It is really important to use this type of ink because glassine envelopes have a slick surface, making it difficult for most images to adhere. I used the patterned Aqua Paper Tape and attached it the top of the envelope (front and back). Next, I stitched a simple straight stitch through the tape with brown thread for a decorative touch. For the second set of confetti packs, I decided to use the flourish image from the Patterned Flourishes Clearly Impressed stamp line. This stamp image is elegant with just the right touch of sophistication, which makes it perfectly suited for a wedding. The paper tape I employed comes from the Venice Naked Paper Tape set.
